VIDEO: 2027 General Election Will Be My Last Time Contesting For Presidency — Atiku Abubakar Declares

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has said the 2027 general election will be his last time contesting for the presidency.

In an interview on Arise TV on Wednesday evening, Atiku made the declaration while discussing his political future and the state of the country.

He has run for president several times since 1993, including as the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in 2023.

“2027 general election will be my last time contesting for the presidency,” he stated during the broadcast.

Atiku spoke at length about the challenges facing Nigeria.

He pointed to the activities of terrorists across different parts of the country and said security remains a major issue that needs urgent attention.

He added that the economy continues to put pressure on ordinary citizens, with many struggling to meet basic needs.

He also touched on the need for stronger institutions and better governance.

According to him, the country requires leaders who can bring people together and deliver results on the ground.

Atiku said he believes his experience puts him in a position to contribute if given the opportunity one more time.

The former vice president did not give details on which platform he plans to use for the 2027 race.

He has been linked in recent months with the African Democratic Congress and opposition efforts to build a coalition against the ruling party.
