Social Commentator Accuses ADC Of Deliberately Shutting Down Website To Prevent Members’ Deregistration After Obi’s Move
A social commentator has alleged that the African Democratic Congress (ADC) deliberately shut down its website to stop Nigerians from deregistering from the party following recent political developments involving top opposition figures Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso.
The claim, which circulated on social media platforms, suggested that the party’s online membership portal became inaccessible shortly after reports emerged that Obi was considering leaving the ADC amid ongoing internal crises and political realignments ahead of the 2027 elections.
Recall that Nigeria’s political landscape shifted significantly, yesterday, as former Anambra State governor, Peter Obi, and former Kano State governor, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, formally declared for the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), marking a decisive step toward their anticipated presidential bid ahead of the 2027 general election.
Their declaration followed a marathon closed-door meeting with the leadership of the party at the Abuja residence of former Bayelsa State Governor and NDC National Leader, Seriake Dickson.
The meeting, which lasted several hours, culminated in their official registration as members of the fast-growing political platform.
The move, however, ended weeks of speculation surrounding the political future of both men after their recent exit from the African Democratic Congress (ADC), where internal crises and protracted leadership disputes had weakened cohesion and cast doubts on the party’s readiness for the next electoral cycle.

Shortly after their defection, a netizen Queen Bee (@RealQueenBee__) raised alarm in a post on X claiming the ADC membership portal at adc.org.ng is down for “Maintenance Ongoing” due to mass deregistration, showing a screenshot of the site’s official notice.
‘’Due to the high number of people deregistering themselves from the ADC, they have now quickly switched off their server. It’s now showing “Maintenance Ongoing.
‘’The same thing that Mahmood Yakubu did. Those guys are worse than Criminals and Bandits.’’
