Several Soldiers Killed As Terrorists Ambush Nigerian Troops In Sambisa Forest
Several Nigerian soldiers were killed and others injured in Borno State after militants from the Islamic State-backed Boko Haram faction, known as the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP), launched an ambush.
Reports say the attack occurred in Sambisa Forest, a notorious stronghold of Boko Haram in Borno State.
For years, the forest has provided the insurgents with a secure base to plan and execute operations.

The militants have exploited the difficult terrain to establish training camps, detention centers, and operational bases, using its resources to sustain their campaign of violence.
Sambisa has also reportedly served as a holding ground for abducted civilians, most notably the Chibok schoolgirls kidnapped in 2014, underscoring its role as a hub of insurgent activity in Nigeria’s northeast.
In a video on X, lifeless bodies of some personnel attached to 21 Special Armor Brigade killed during the ambush were seen.

Some wounded soldiers in the video were also receiving treatment as their colleagues held IV fluids for them.
The soldiers were reportedly on patrol to clear some Boko Haram elements in the area following a credible intelligence when they were ambushed by the group.
