‘It Is Not Peter Obi’s Responsibility To Defend Our Votes, We Must Protect Our Mandate If We Want Good Governance He Represents,’ Nigerian Man Says

A Nigerian man has said that it is not the responsibility of top opposition figure, Peter Obi alone to defend election votes, insisting that citizens must take responsibility for protecting their mandate if they truly desire the kind of governance he represents.

The man, reacting to ongoing political discussions surrounding elections and civic participation in Nigeria, argued that voters must go beyond casting ballots by actively safeguarding the integrity of the electoral process.

“I need to educate Nigerians about elections. Elections are a process; they do not end on election day when people go out to vote. It starts with voter registration, then voting, and defending your votes,” he said.

“It is not the responsibility of Mr Peter Obi to defend your votes, it is your responsibility and my responsibility to defend our votes.”

He also responded to criticisms from some supporters who believe Obi is “too soft,” arguing that the former presidential candidate cannot be expected to carry the struggle alone.

“All of you saying Peter Obi is too soft should understand that he is just one man. He has nothing to lose; he is a billionaire. We are talking about the common man who cannot even afford to feed,” he added.
