EXPOSED: Leaked Phone Conversation Reveals How APC Chairman Yilwatda Told Tinubu To Facilitate Defection Of Ex-NNPCL Director To Evade Probe On Alleged Looting Of N210 Trillion
A leaked telephone conversation involving the All Progressives Congress APC National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda and a political figure identified as Mahmoud Dan Larabawa allegedly revealed discussions surrounding former National Petroleum Investment Management Services NAPIMS Director Bala Wunti, who is facing scrutiny over allegations linked to the alleged looting of N210 trillion.
In the leaked Hausa conversation, Dan Larabawa repeatedly told the APC chairman that Tinubu had privately discussed Bala Wunti’s matter “four different times,” while urging party leadership to quickly perfect arrangements for Wunti’s formal integration into the APC ahead of an alleged governorship ambition in Bauchi State.
A source familiar with the conversation said Wunti is currently facing a Senate probe alongside four others over the allegations.
According to the source, Dan Larabawa told Yilwatda that he had discussions with Tinubu concerning Wunti and urged him to quickly register him as a member of the APC ahead of his alleged gubernatorial ambition.
The conversation suggested that Wunti’s planned political elevation was being discussed as the Senate probe continued.
Throughout the discussion, Dan Larabawa pushed for the preparation of official party documentation and political arrangements for Wunti.

According to the leaked exchange, Dan Larabawa told Yilwatda that discussions concerning Wunti had already reached Tinubu several times.
“Today, there is an issue we have discussed privately with Tinubu about four times,” Dan Larabawa said.
“We are praying God helps him because for four times he has been working on this matter personally.”
The caller further disclosed that Tinubu had assured them that Bala Wunti’s issue would soon be resolved.
“Because Tinubu said this month, once we move forward, he believes the Bala Wunti issue will be concluded,” he said.
Dan Larabawa then requested that APC officials urgently prepare a “small A4 paper” for Wunti before he formally collects his party membership card.

Although Yilwatda responded by stating that Wunti had already obtained the APC membership card in January, Dan Larabawa insisted that additional political arrangements were still ongoing.
“We said there is something they want him to do… in another office or position,” he said.
The conversation later shifted to discussions about Wunti’s political future in Bauchi State.
“And nobody is politically stronger than him in Bauchi. It belongs to him,” Dan Larabawa declared.
Yilwatda responded: “It belongs to him.”
At several points in the conversation, both men referenced private discussions with Tinubu regarding Bauchi political calculations, ministerial appointments and future electoral alignments ahead of the 2027 elections.
Dan Larabawa also dismissed reports suggesting Wunti might become Minister of Health.
“Just grammar/talk — honestly that is not the real issue,” he said.
The APC chairman also acknowledged political calculations in Bauchi State along senatorial lines.
“The ministers are from Bauchi Central and Bauchi North,” Yilwatda said.

The conversation further referenced political networking involving the First Lady.
“He keeps attaching himself closely to the First Lady over the Health Minister issue,” Dan Larabawa said.
At one point, Yilwatda suggested that Wunti’s political reception could even be organised quietly.
“What would stop him from having the reception? Even if it’s not done publicly,” Yilwatda said.
“We can do it quietly.”
