While Tinubu Government, NYSC Forsake Abducted Corps Member In Kidnappers’ Den, Nigerians Crowdfund Ransom
Concerned Nigerians have begun crowdfunding to raise ransom for an abducted member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) after the corps member, identified as Abba, resurfaced days after he was presumed dead by his relatives.
Family members of victim, last week claimed he had been killed by his kidnappers despite paying a ransom of N10million for his release.
According to reports, the family said communication with the kidnappers suddenly stopped after the ransom was paid, deepening fears that the corps member may have been murdered.
Family sources revealed that the abductors had initially demanded N10million for his release but later made fresh demands after receiving the money.

According to them, the kidnappers also requested motorcycles in addition to the ransom already paid.
“Since receiving the N10 million ransom payment, Abba’s abductors have completely cut off all communication with the family,” the sources said, according to a security analyst and counter-insurgency expert, Zagazola Makama.
The family said it had decided not to comply with any further demands following the abrupt silence from the abductors.
As a result of the development, the family said it had begun arrangements to conduct funeral prayers for the corps member in absentia in line with Islamic traditions.
“Abba’s family are preparing to hold his Janaza prayer (Gha’ib) on Friday, March 6, in accordance with Islamic rules,” the family said.
However, in a major twist of event on Sunday, Abba appeared in a new video released by his captors, contradicting earlier reports of his death. In the video, Abba is seen alive and speaking from the kidnappers’ hideout, stating the recording was made on the 19th day of Ramadan.

In the video where an account detail was tagged, Abba again solicited Nigerians support so he could regain freedom soon.
Reacting to the video on X, some Nigerians including prominent activist NEFERTITI (@firstladyship) have started soliciting for help for the abducted corps member even as Bola Tinubu government and NYSC authorities continue to forsake the corps member.
‘’ABBA IS ALIVE! But the terrorists have asked for two okada. The original tweet has asked for support. While I’m not comfortable with this, we still have to do it for humanity. It could be any of us tomorrow. Kindly send what you have. GTBank: 0263736389.’’
