Nigerians Urge Netanyahu, Trump To Intervene Following Massacre Of Over 50 Soldiers By Boko Haram Terrorists
Over 50 soldiers were killed in a devastating Boko Haram attack in Borno State on 1 March 2026, sparking widespread anger across Nigeria as many citizens call for urgent intervention from international figures like Benjamin Netanyahu and Donald Trump amid accusations that Tinubu’s government has failed to protect its troops.
The assault targeted a military forward operating base at Banki junction along the Bama-Gwoza road, where terrorists struck early in the morning.
Reports from military sources confirm that an Army Major, identified as U.I. Mairiga, was among those killed, alongside more than 50 other soldiers.
The attack has left the nation in shock, with graphic images circulating on social media showing the aftermath and fuelling public outrage.
This latest tragedy comes against a backdrop of persistent insecurity in the northeast, where Boko Haram and affiliated groups continue to launch deadly operations despite years of military campaigns.
Many Nigerians are pointing fingers at the handling of the crisis, particularly criticising National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu for comments describing terrorists as “our brothers,” which some see as downplaying the threat.

Sheikh Ahmad Gumi has also faced backlash for his past advocacy of dialogue with armed groups.
Frustration has boiled over on social media, where users are sharing heartbreaking tributes to the fallen soldiers—fathers, sons, and brothers who died defending the country—and questioning why more decisive action has not been taken.
In a striking show of desperation, some voices are directly appealing to foreign leaders.
They have tagged Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and US President Donald Trump in calls for help, arguing that Nigeria’s leadership has failed to stem the bloodshed and that external pressure or assistance is now desperately needed.

The military has yet to release an official casualty figure or detailed statement on the incident, but the scale of the reported losses has intensified demands for accountability and a renewed push to crush the insurgency once and for all.
As the country mourns its dead, the attack serves as a grim reminder that peace in the northeast remains elusive, and ordinary Nigerians are losing patience.
