You Turned Against Jonathan Over Northern Insecurity, Now Insurgency Has Spread Nationwide, Yet You Are Busy Buying Campaign Buses — Netizen Criticises ‘Elites’ Flaunting Support For Tinubu
A Nigerian netizen has criticised political and business elites for what he described as a ”hypocritical silence” and ”double standard” toward Nigeria’s escalating insecurity despite their loud criticism of former President Goodluck Jonathan during his tenure.
The netizen on X, Olusegun Bakare @theboyisgreat recalled how many Nigerians, especially influential figures in the North and political elites nationwide, turned against Jonathan and mobilised mass outrage over rising Boko Haram attacks in the northern region at the time.

However, the netizen argued that under President Bola Tinubu, insecurity has worsened and spread across nearly all regions including the North-West, North-Central, South-East, and parts of the South-West yet many of the same elites remain quiet.
He argued that instead of demanding accountability or addressing the growing humanitarian crisis, the these elites are and the elites are happy to showcase their campaign buses and declare their loyalty to Tinubu despite the country’s deteriorating security situation.
The netizen lamented that nationwide terror attacks, mass abductions, terrorists’ raids, and insurgent activities have become rampant, but elite voices who once claimed to be champions of public safety now appear more invested in political survival than national stability.
