VIDEO: Massive Protest in Minna Over High Cost of Living Today
Residents of Minna, the capital of Niger State, voiced their dissatisfaction with the high cost of living in the country on Monday by staging protests and blocking key roads in the city.
Among the demonstrators were women and youths who could be heard chanting protest songs, while law enforcement officers, including policemen, observed the scene.
The protesters cited the increasing prices of essential food items and the government’s perceived lack of effective measures to address the situation as reasons for their actions. They hoped that by blocking major roads, the government would take heed of their grievances.
Yakubu Garba, the Deputy Governor of Niger State, addressed the protesters, acknowledging the hardships experienced by families due to the current economic challenges.
