US, UK Launch Fresh Air Strikes Against Yemen’s Houthi

Forces of the United States’ Central Command, in collaboration with the United Kingdom Armed Forces and support from Australia, Canada, Bahrain, and the Netherlands, launched coordinated strikes on eight Houthi targets in Yemen on Monday night.

The operation, revealed in a statement by the US Central Command on X (formerly Twitter) early Tuesday, aimed to counter the increased destabilizing and illegal activities attributed to Iranian-backed Houthi terrorists in the region.

This action is part of ongoing international efforts to address the Houthi threat.

SaharaReporters had reported on January 12 that, amidst the escalation of Israel’s conflict with Hamas, the US and the UK engaged in the war by launching an attack on Yemen.

Houthi spokesman Abdulsalam Jahaf confirmed the attack, specifying that the US and the UK targeted the cities of Sanaa and Hodeidah.

According to the statement, “The targets included missile systems and launchers, air defense systems, radars, and deeply buried weapons storage facilities.

“These strikes are intended to degrade Houthi capability to continue their reckless and unlawful attacks on U.S. and U.K. ships as well as international commercial shipping in the Red Sea, Bab Al-Mandeb Strait, and the Gulf of Aden.

“These strikes are separate and distinct from the multinational freedom of navigation actions performed under Operation Prosperity Guardian.”
