US Congressman Draws International Attention To 72% Of Global Christians Killed In Nigeria

A United State lawmaker John James has called the attention of international communities to the continued persecution of Christians in Nigeria after a report indicted the West African country as the epicenter of global killings of Christians over faith in 2025.

The report said a staggering 3,490 Christians were murdered in the country, accounting for 72% of the total 4,849 Christians killed worldwide for their faith.

Reacting to the report in a post in X, James who revisited the alarm he raised on the persecution of Christians in Nigeria for years described the menace as targeted, systematic persecution.

He also called on United States and the world not to look away from the facts which he said are undeniable.

Nigeria is facing a severe crisis, with reports of genocide and systematic persecution of Christians, particularly in the northern and central regions.

The violence, largely attributed to Islamist groups like Boko Haram and Fulani jihadists, has resulted in an estimated 185,000 deaths, including 125,000 Christians and 60,000 nonviolent Muslims, since 2010.
