Despite reportedly earning less than a million naira in basic salary per month, Bola Tinubu’s Minister of Works, David Umahi has boasted of acquiring more wealth as a minister than he was as governor of Ebonyi State for eight years.
Speaking at a forum, the minister said his capacity and wealth are ‘’10 times bigger than they were as a state governor’’, this is as he boasted to be more dangerous than before.
According to him, his family members have the capacity to do anything.

‘’God has blessed my family now beyond grace and are capable of funding anything, If you ask them to contribute, then we contribute and over contribute.’’
Under Bola Tinubu, Nigerian ministers earn less than ₦1 million per month in basic salary, a structure unchanged since 2008, according to the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC).

Umahi has been accused of transferring over ₦3.6 billion in government funds to his company, Brass Engineering & Construction Nigeria Limited, during his tenure as governor and deputy governor.
