Top US Official Quits Social Security Administration After Fight With DOGE

The top official at the United States Social Security Administration has quit after an alleged clash with Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) employees over access to sensitive personal data.

According to reports, Michelle King, a career official who served at the agency for more than 30 years, was acting commissioner of the Social Security Administration but left the agency after she was replaced by Leland Dudek this weekend in an acting capacity.

Sources claimed that DOGE employees were seeking access to an internal data system that includes sensitive personal information of Americans amid efforts to cut the cost of governance

Nancy Altman, the president of Social Security Works, an organization that advocates for the expansion of Social Security, told ABC News that the data held by the Social Security Administration is extensive.
