Tinubu, Man of Integrity Can Never Support Looting of Public Assets – Adeleke to Osun APC Leaders

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has restated that Bola Ahmed Tinubu would never endorse the embezzlement of public assets.

He made this declaration in response to accusations from the Osun All Progressives Congress (APC) regarding the recently released White Paper.

Leaders of the APC in the state had urged Bola Tinubu and law enforcement agencies to intervene and rescue the state from what they described as the destabilizing influence of Governor Adeleke and his ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Recall that on January 18, 2024, the Osun State Government issued a White Paper addressing traditional rulers and calling for the recovery of public assets purportedly misappropriated by political appointees during the Adegboyega Oyetola administration.

According to Governor Adeleke in a statement by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, “the President has always commended him for clearing the mess he met in Osun, while also emphasizing that President Tinubu abhors looting of public assets.

“I have interacted with President Tinubu a lot of times, and I know he appreciates my effort in cleaning the many messes I encountered in Osun.

“From the actions of the President, he has shown he is a man of due process and, as such, will never support looting of public assets. It’s now unfortunate that Osun APC is showing acts that are contrary to the President’s style of governance

“Moreso, at the inception of our government, I set up an Asset Recovery Committee, with most of those with government properties alerted to the need to return them.

“It is now the report of the committee I’m acting on as demanded by the good people of the state.”

Governor Adeleke emphasized his non-partisan governance, stating that he has refrained from involving political adversaries in anti-graft agencies despite evident grounds to do so.

He urged former administration appointees to return government assets and cautioned that his administration would vigorously pursue the recovery of all pilfered government properties.
