‘Tinubu And His Cohorts Gave Judges SUVs And Mansions While Citizens Get Noodles, Spaghetti,’ Nigerians Condemn APC Govt For Weaponising Poverty

Nigerians have voiced strong condemnation of President Bola Tinubu and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) administration, accusing them of weaponising poverty by prioritising luxurious rewards for judges while ordinary citizens struggle to survive.

The condemnation comes amid various palliative schemes embarked upon by the APC government at the federal, state, and legislative levels. While the initiative has been commended by a few, it comes at a time when Nigerians need more than food to cushion the hardship caused by the policies of the Tinubu government.

Recently, the Federal Executive Council (FEC) approved the construction of 40 houses in Abuja for judges across the country. Nyesom Wike, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), made the announcement while addressing statehouse correspondents after an FEC meeting chaired by Bola Tinubu.

He said the residences will be constructed in the Kantampe district, with 20 allocated to the FCT High Court, 10 to the Federal High Court, and 10 to the Court of Appeal.

At the state level, some governments have undertaken similar projects, with a recent report revealing that since 2020, at least eight Nigerian governors have gifted judges a combined total of 237 SUVs.
