‘Time For Prayer Has Passed, Now Is Time To Get ‘Equipment’, Anoint It And Face Demonic Elements Who Plan To Take Your Life,’ Pastor Enenche Tells Nigerian Christians

Pastor Paul Enenche of Dunamis International Gospel Centre has called on Nigerian Christians to actively defend their lives in the face of increasing violence and targeted attacks.

In a recent sermon, he warned that the time for prayers alone has passed, urging believers to take up arms, anoint them, and stand against any forces planning to harm or persecute them.

He stressed that Christians must no longer remain passive, emphasizing the urgency of protecting their communities and lives amid ongoing threats.

‘’To watch means to be on your guard—don’t let your guard down. Whatever you need to do physically so that you are not a victim, do it, so that God can do what only He can do.

‘’In Nehemiah chapter 4, verses 7 to 9, it came to pass that when Sambalat, Tobiah, the Arabians, the Ammonites, and the Ashdodites heard that the walls of Jerusalem were rebuilt and the bridges began to be stopped, they were very angry. They conspired together to fight against Jerusalem and hinder its progress.

‘’There are those who are bent on fighting the gospel, the church, and the body of Christ in this land. Nevertheless, we prayed unto God—that is what we do all the time. But there is something we don’t normally do: we set a watch against them day and night. We prayed, but we did not let down our guards. We did not simply pray and leave everything to God; we prayed and then set a watch against them day and night because of them.

‘’Nehemiah 4:13 says, ‘Therefore set I in the lower places behind the wall, and on the high places I even set the people after their families, with their swords, their spears, and their bows. They which builded on the wall, and they that bear burdens, every one with one of his hands they worked on the wall, and with the other hand they held a weapon.’

‘’Is this scripture? Is this the Bible? They had already prayed—this is watch. They prayed to God, then decided to watch.

‘’In the New Testament, John chapter 18, verse 10, Simon Peter, who was among those who followed Jesus permanently, drew a sword and smote the high priest’s servant, cutting off his ear. The servant’s name was Malchus. Then Jesus said to Peter, ‘Put your sword away. Where did you get it? Put your sword into its sheath. The cup which My Father has given Me, I will drink it.’

‘’This shows that there is a time for prayer and a time for physical preparedness. I am speaking to communities of people: anoint yourself, anoint your shield, anoint your equipment, and let no devil have power over you. Why did the Israelites under Nehemiah pray and still watch with the equipment they had? Because God knows there is a time when prayer alone is enough, and there is a time when physical defense is necessary.”
