Tanzania fired coach Adel Amrouche after he accused Morocco of manipulating the Confederation of African Football (CAF), earning him a $10,000 fine and an eight-match suspension.

Amrouche, who became the Taifa Stars’ manager in March 2023, made accusations after his team’s 3-0 defeat by the Atlas Lions in the opening match of the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Cote D’Ivoire on Wednesday.

After receiving a complaint from the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (RMFF), Amrouche was found guilty of breaking the code of ethics and conduct by the CAF Disciplinary Committee.

The contract of Adel Amrouche, the national team coach, has been terminated with immediate effect, as confirmed by the Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) in a statement on Friday.

Hemed Morocco has also been named by TFF as the team’s temporary coach for the remaining AFCON games.

On Sunday, Tanzania and Zambia will play their second Group F match.
