Surulere: Voting Commences in Gbajabiamila’s Constituency
Voting has begun in the by-election being held in Surulere 1 Federal Constituency located in Surulere, Lagos State.
This by-election aims to fill the vacant seat left by Femi Gbajabiamiala, who resigned from the House of Representatives to assume the role of the President’s Chief of Staff.
The accreditation process commenced at the Surulere Local Government Area Secretariat around 8:30 a.m. on Saturday.
An INEC official, speaking on condition of anonymity, reported a modest turnout of voters at Ward 07 Polling Unit 35, stating, “The turnout is currently low. We have seen only a few voters so far.”
The official further mentioned that the INEC team hadn’t faced any significant challenges, highlighting the smooth progress of the exercise.

Moreover, our correspondent noted the presence of various armed security personnel, including police officers and members of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, patrolling polling units and the surrounding areas of Surulere to ensure a peaceful and orderly process.
