Sultan of Sokoto Mourns Murder of Two Ekiti Monarchs
The recent murder of two Ekiti traditional rulers has elicited concern from Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, the Sultan of Sokoto and President-General of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, NSCIA.
In a statement released by his media team on Friday, the Sultan emphasized the need for condemnation of such acts, deeming them unfortunate.
The slain traditional rulers, identified as the Onimojo of Imojo-Ekiti, Oba Samuel Olushola, and the Elesun of Esun-Ekiti, Oba David Ogunsakin, were ambushed and killed by suspected bandits while returning from a security meeting in Ikole Local Government Area of Ekiti State, as reported by DAILY POST.
Expressing deep sorrow, the Sultan labeled the incident “extremely painful and very unfortunate.” He urged the Inspector General of Police and other relevant security heads to apprehend the perpetrators and bring them to justice under the law of the land.

“The police should take its anti-crime battle to these criminals now, wherever they are, whoever they are and ensure that no matter their status and stature in the society, they should not be spared and must be brought to justice, while efforts must be made to henceforth prevent repeat of such dastardly act before it happens in the future,” he said.
