‘No Country Should Be Ruled By Suspected Drug Baron,’ Activist, Simon Kennedy Demands US Govt Release Tinubu’s Alleged Narcotics Records, Warns Against Playing On Nigerians’ Intelligence (VIDEO)
Political activist Simon Kennedy has called on the United States government to release records concerning Bola Tinubu’s alleged involvement with narcotics, warning that attempts to conceal such information amount to insulting Nigerians’ intelligence.
Speaking in a video shared on social media, Kennedy urged transparency, insisting that the Nigerian public has a right to know the truth about their leaders.
‘’If it was me, forfeit money in my account because it’s believed to be a proceed of drugs, right and at the same time, this particular country come out to say that I’m guilty and they are going to publish a report in regards to the proceed of this activity that landed money in my account, I would dare them to go ahead so that it will clear my name that I was never involved.
‘’But by the time I start involving lawyers to go and counter them to stop them from releasing it, that means to some certain extent I can be considered to be a criminal and that is the reality. And funny enough, let’s put it this way to all the international communities, why are you playing with the intelligence of Nigerians in regards to the US now, release this thing, let’s know what actually transpired.’’
According to him, no country should be ruled by alleged Drug Baron.

‘’No normal country can actually sit down and endorse somebody that is alleged of substance trafficking issues till he clears his name, that is the reality. So tell us the truth, what are you actually doing? Are you interested in liberating the masses that feels that credible people should occupy these positions and they should deliver the dividends of democracy you are playing politics around this? Let’s face it, let’s look at it that way.’’
Kennedy’s remarks come amid growing scrutiny of Tinubu’s political and business dealings, with critics accusing both domestic and international actors of shielding controversial figures from accountability.
Recall that a U.S. judge Beryl A. Howell had in early 2026 lashed out at the FBI and Drug Enforcement Administration for employing delay tactics to frustrate the release of Bola Tinubu’s records based on a 2022 Freedom of Information request by transparency campaigner Aaron Greenspan, who was assisted by investigative journalist David Hundeyin.

Ms Howell of the U.S. Court for the District of Columbia in Washington, D.C., on February 3, rebuked the FBI and DEA for holding up the release of Tinubu’s records, expected to shed light on a narcotics-trafficking ordeal that made him surrender $460,000 to the U.S. government in the early 1990s. Mr Greenspan, CEO of Plainsite, a data transparency advocacy group, first filed the FOI in June 2022.
