Sharia Council: We were used for the election and then abandoned.
The Supreme Council for Shari’ah in Nigeria (SCSN) has claimed that the government has disregarded them despite their endorsement of the Muslim-Muslim ticket and its mobilization for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s victory in the presidential election.
Dr. Nafiu Baba Ahmed, the Secretary of the SCSN, stated in an interview that they would assess the circumstances and not make the same “mistake made” twice.
He said, “Those who never supported the Muslim-Muslim ticket are the ones who are getting government benefits.”
He claimed, “It was as though we assisted in pushing a car, and the car simply brushed us off and drove away.
“We informed the President that Muslims like us were not treated fairly by the administration. We’ve been neglected. Next time, we’ll give it another thought,” he stated.
According to Baba Ahmed, Muslims did not receive fair treatment from the current administration, given their role in securing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s appointment to the Presidential Villa.
