Security Agents Attempt To Arrest El-Rufai, Seize His Passport At Abuja Airport Days After Raising Alarm (VIDEO)

There was heightened drama at the Nnamdi Azikwe International Airport, Abuja on Thursday after security operatives attempted to arrest former Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai upon after his arrival in the country from Cairo, Egypt.

Muyiwa Adekeye, Media Adviser to the former Kaduna State Governor Malam Nasir El-Rufai confirmed this in a statement.

In the statement, Adekeye said El-Rufai declined to accompany the agents without a formal invitation, after which they took his passport from an aide.

The full statement from Adekeye reads: “Security agents today attempted to arrest Malam Nasir elrufai as he arrived on a flight from Cairo.

“Malam El-Rufai declined to follow them without a formal Invitation. They however snatched his passport from an aide.”

In a video sighted on X, the security agents were seen dragging and eventually seized the former governor’s international passport at the airport.

The incident comes just days after El-Rufai publicly raised alarm, warning that “powerful forces” were plotting to target him over his recent political positions and statements.
