Second-season coach fired by Serie A underdog Empoli

After four months in charge, coach Aurelio Andreazzoli was fired by Serie A struggling team Empoli on Monday.
The 70-year-old Andreazzoli was brought in last September to take Paolo Zanetti’s place, who was sacked following a crushing 7-0 loss to Roma.
Davide Nicola, fifty, has been hired by the Tuscan club for a one-year term with an option for a second season.

Empoli expressed their “deep gratitude to Mr. Andreazzoli for the work completed over the past few months” in a press release, along with their dismissal of his two assistants.
After losing 2-1 to Hellas Verona last weekend, Empoli is currently 19th in the table with 13 points from 20 games. The team is up against the relegation rivals.
