Saraki requests that Kwara have strict security.
In order to address incidences of insecurity, former Senate President Bukola Saraki urged the Kwara government to strengthen security in the state on Friday in Abuja.
In response to the killing of Oba Peter Olusegun Aremu-Cole, the traditional ruler (Olukoro) of Koro, Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara, on Thursday and the kidnapping of other members of his family, Dr. Saraki, President of the 8th Senate, issued the demand in a statement.
Saraki’s Media Officer on Local Matters, AbdulGaniyu Abdulqadir, released the statement.
He reported that suspected kidnappers shot and killed the traditional ruler of Koro on Thursday night in his palace, taking along his wife, child, and another individual.
Saraki denounced the deed, calling it heinous, brutal, and unforgivable.
He expressed his condolences to the royal family, the traditional council of Koro, and the people of Koro for their loss and prayed to God Almighty to give them the strength to bear it.
Saraki urged the state administration to step up efforts to protect people and property.
“Seeing this much bloodshed in a state that has long been a refuge of harmony and tranquility is unsettling.
“I express my condolences for this immense loss to the Koro traditional council, the mourning royal family, and the Koro community.
“We ask the government and security personnel to be vigilant in ensuring sufficient protection for the people of Kwara, even as we continue to pray for the safe rescue of the abductees.
Saraki emphasized, “These criminals must be captured and made to face the full wrath of the law.”
