Removing Tinubu in 2027 Is Nigeria’s Only Path to Freedom for Nigerians — ADC Spokesman, Bolaji Abdullahi
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has declared that removing Bola Tinubu from power in the 2027 general elections represents the only realistic path to reclaiming Nigeria from what it describes as a profound governance crisis that has left the nation effectively hijacked.
In an interview, the party’s Spokesperson, Bolaji Abdullahi, left no room for ambiguity about the opposition’s central objective.
“We want to get Tinubu out of power. That’s the only way we can get our country back,” he stated.
He went further, insisting there is “no scenario where he remains in power, and we are able to save this country.”
Abdullahi, a former minister, painted a grim picture of the current administration’s priorities and approach.

He accused those in charge of adopting a “bandit mentality,” where the guiding philosophy appears to be one of smashing systems, grabbing resources, and running away with them — an attitude, he argued, that now defines the mindset at the highest levels of government.
The ADC spokesperson pointed to specific decisions as evidence of misplaced focus and questionable sovereignty.
He highlighted the reported payment of $9 million to foreign lobbyists in the United States, aimed at polishing Nigeria’s image ahead of engagements with American political leaders, including President Donald Trump.
Abdullahi claimed to have reviewed related documents and found no transparency or clear legality in the arrangement.
“They don’t care whether Nigerians are still dying. They don’t care that people are still being killed.
They just want to look good before Americans,” he said.
He also referenced a medical memorandum of understanding with the United States that, according to critics, grants undue influence over Nigerian funds, further illustrating what the party sees as a pattern of surrendering national interests while domestic challenges — from persistent insecurity to economic hardship — continue unabated.
The statement comes amid growing opposition coordination efforts, with the ADC positioning itself as a key player in the broader push to challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the next presidential contest.

Abdullahi described the prospect of continuing under the present leadership as “too scary to contemplate,” framing the 2027 election not merely as a political contest but as an existential necessity for national recovery.
While the ADC’s rhetoric has intensified calls for a unified opposition front, reactions on social media and in public discourse remain deeply divided.
Many Nigerians express cynicism toward promises of change, pointing to the track record of major political parties since the return to democracy in 1999, while others see the sharp critique as a necessary wake-up call in the face of mounting difficulties.
As the political temperature rises with over a year still to go before the polls, the ADC’s uncompromising stance signals that the battle for Nigeria’s direction in 2027 will be fierce and deeply ideological.
Whether this declaration galvanizes broader support or merely sharpens existing divisions remains to be seen, but Bolaji Abdullahi and his party have made their position unmistakably clear: for Nigeria to be rescued, Bola Tinubu must be removed.
