You Have Made Nigeria Proud —Peter Obi Congratulates Super Eagles on Securing Third Place at AFCON 2025

The presidential candidate of Labour Party (LP) Mr. Peter Obi has congratulated Nigeria’s national football team, the Super Eagles, for securing the third-place medal at the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

In a post shared on his official X handle, Obi praised the team for their performance at the tournament, commending the players for representing Nigeria with honour, character, and resilience despite the challenges faced during the competition.

The Super Eagles had lost to hosts Morocco via penalties in the semi-final and against the Pharoahs, the game had to be decided from 12 yards, after it ended 0-0 after 90 minutes.

There was no extra time in the match. During the shoot-out, Stanley Nwabali proved to be the hero of the day, as he saved from Mohamed Salah and Omar Marmoush.

“Congratulations to our Super Eagles on securing the third-place medal at AFCON. Thank you for representing the Nigerian people. You fought with character, represented Nigeria with honour, and reminded us that progress is built through perseverance,” Obi wrote.

He further applauded the team’s resilience and expressed confidence in their future, noting that the achievement will serve as a stepping stone to greater success. “The nation is proud of you. May this result be a strong foundation for even greater victories ahead,” he added.
