
Ogun Community Cries For Help As Elephants Kill Man

Residents of Onitasin Imidi, located in Ijebu East Local Government Area in Ogun State, are crying for help as a herd of elephants from one of the State government’s reserved forests, has reportedly attacked and killed a logger, identified as Musa Kalamu, while he was cutting trees in the forest.
The Commissioner for Forestry, Taiwo Oludotun, has confirmed the development. “Yes, we are aware and we are already on our way to the community,” he said
The state Commissioner of Police, Lanre Ogunlowo, also confirmed the incident in a Whatsapp message to our correspondent on Tuesday.
“The Divisional Police Officer Ogbere received information from Itasin community on 28/07/2025 at about 1620hrs that elephants escaped from government reserve and attacked one Musa Kalamu who died on the way to the hospital.
“Officers of Ogun State Forestry were contacted to curtail the animals from further damage. Calm has returned to the community”.
A disturbing viral video emerged on Tuesday showing the lifeless body of the middle aged man identified as Kala reportedly attacked by the ravaging elephants.

“This is Kala, he was attacked by the elephants at Onitasin, you can see the marks of the attack all over his body with some part of his intestine outside, the government should please come to our aid, the problem with these elephants is too much in our community,” a resident complained.
