Nigerian Leaders Threatened Alex Babir For Rebuilding Yelewata After Fulani Terrorists’ Attack — Rev. Dachomo
A Nigerian cleric, Rev. Ezekiel Dachomo, has alleged that some Nigerian leaders threatened the life of American Missionary, Alex Babir after he led efforts to rebuild Yelewata community following a deadly attack by Fulani terrorists.
Yeletawa, located in Plateau State, has been affected by repeated violent attacks linked to armed Fulani groups, part of a broader pattern of insecurity in Nigeria’s Middle Belt.
The most recent attack was the massacre that occurred in June 2025, resulting in the deaths of between up to 200 people, mostly Christians, and displacing over 3,000 others.

The attack, attributed to armed Fulani terrorists, targeted internally displaced persons sheltering at a local Catholic mission.
In one of the efforts in giving lives back to the displaced residents, U.S. missionary Alex Barbir rebuilt 35 homes after the violent attack. The homes were rebuilt under Alex Barbir’s direct supervision through his humanitarian organisation, Building Zion.
In an Instagram post, Barbir said Nigerian authorities remained responsible for ensuring the community’s safety after reconstruction. He warned that any renewed violence would represent a failure of state protection obligations.
However, speaking in a post on X, Rev. Dachomo revealed that Babir became a target after helping displaced residents return and reconstruct homes destroyed during the attack, which left several people dead and forced many others to flee.

According to the cleric, the threats were aimed at discouraging further rebuilding and resettlement in the area.
How do you explain that Fulani Jihadists and Terrorists burnt down, destroyed and annihilate the people of Yeltawa, a community in Benue state and the government did nothing. Provided no aid nor rebuilt the community.
‘’Infact, even the president didn’t go there. He claimed it’s “raining” and the “roads are bad” but Alex Babir, a beloved son of God, and missionary, left his comfort in the US and spent his hard earned money to rebuild the community of Yeltawa, with 35 houses for the displaced people.
‘’Instead of applaud and support from the government or both state and federal, guess what he got? Opposition and ridicule and propaganda and threats against his life. Our leaders are evil, that must be casted out with a superior power of Jesus Christ.’’
