If NBA Fails To push For Amupitan’s Resignation Before He Ruins Nigeria’s Democratic Principles, History Will Hold Lawyers Accountable In Way That Will Embarrass Their Children — Pat Utomi
The Nigerian Bar Association NBA has been warned that failure to push for the resignation of Joash Amupitan, chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC could have far-reaching consequences for Nigeria’s democracy.
Political economist Pat Utomi issued the warning, stating that if the NBA does not act before what he described as the erosion of Nigeria’s democratic principles, the legal profession risks being judged harshly by history.
Utomi cautioned that lawyers across the country would be held accountable for their silence or inaction, adding that such a legacy could bring embarrassment to future generations.

‘’If the NBA cannot prevail on Amupitan to resign the fall of Nigeria through institutional and moral safety nets has become a free fall. History will hold all Lawyers and Amupitan accountable in a way that will embarrass the children of their children.’’
