Demand that Chief Tinubu reprimand the Minister of Defense.

The National Movement for Defence of Democracy and Good Governance (NMDDGG) called a news conference on Thursday in Calabar, the capital of Cross River State. However, the event ended poorly when police stormed in and took its president, Goddie Akpama, away.

After being apprehended by police, he was brought to the State Command and forced to sign a pledge promising not to organize another protest conference or parade without the required authorization.

After nearly two hours, Akpama was freed and instructed not to organize another meeting of that nature at the Chinese Restaurant Event Hall in the State Housing Estate in Calabar.

Journalists and activists are talking about the action in whispers since it made them anxious.

The briefing, which was signed by Akpama and given to media prior to his detention, called for Chief Bola Tinubu to immediately suspend and look into Bello Matawalle, a former governor of Zamfara State and Minister of State for Defense, in the same way that he looked into Dr. Betta Edu, the minister of humanitarian affairs and poverty alleviation.

According to reports, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) declared last week that it would look into the N70 billion Matawalle issue again.

“We are perplexed by the continued tenure of the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, who faces staggering money laundering allegations exceeding N70 billion, without undergoing the necessary investigations,” he stated, “even though we commend the expeditious actions taken against Dr. Betta Edu.”

This stark contradiction calls into question the core ideas of fairness and impartiality that ought to serve as the cornerstone of our country.

“We fervently encourage Chief Bola Tinubu to immediately revoke Bello Matawalle’s ministerial status, and we categorically insist that the EFCC reopen the investigation into the serious accusations made against him.
