Israeli Strike Kills Hezbollah Commander, Two Fighters, Seven Others in Lebanon
In the southern Lebanese city of Nabatiyeh, an Israeli strike has claimed the lives of seven civilians, two combatants, and Ali al-Debs, the commander of Hezbollah.
Since the Israel-Hamas war began on October 7, fire across the border has been exchanged almost daily between Israel, the country’s arch-enemy, and Lebanon’s Iran-backed Hezbollah organization.
The Israeli military claimed in a statement that it had killed Hezbollah commander al-Debs, his deputy, and another fighter near Nabatiyeh on Wednesday—the bloodiest day since then—according to an AFP-attributed Barron’s story.

According to a security source in Lebanon, the attack claimed the lives of seven civilians from the same family in addition to Debs and two other Hezbollah fighters. Since they were not authorized to speak with the media, the source asked to remain anonymous.
The number of civilians killed by Israeli attacks on Wednesday increased to 10, marking the greatest number since the outbreak of cross-border hostilities.
Debs, his deputy, and another fighter were slain “in a precise air strike carried out by an IDF (Israeli army) aircraft on a Hezbollah military structure in Nabatiyeh,” according to a statement released by the Israeli military on Thursday.
Without mentioning the location of their deaths, Hezbollah declared on Thursday that three of its militants, including Debs, had perished. It had previously stated that on Wednesday, two more members had died.
The Israeli army reported that its airplanes had struck Lebanon on Wednesday and that it had lost a soldier to unclaimed rocket fire from Lebanon.
