Ladoja’s Show, Prayers For Nigeria: How Eid-el-fitr Celebrations Went Down In Oyo

After 30 days of devotion, perseverance and dedication to the pillars as well as principles of Islam, today, Muslim faithful joined their counterpart around the world to commemorate Eid-el-Fitr prayers, marking the end of the holy month of Ramadan. 

Oyo Muslim ummahs gathered at various Eid Prayer Grounds across the state to offer prayers of thanksgiving to almighty Allah who has spared them to witness the end of the fasting. After fasting from sunrise to sunset, avoiding food, drinks and other pleasurable desires, the Muslim faithful who have taken their time to get closer to Allah by improving their ibadah and increasing dhikr gathered with a united voice singing Allamudilah. 

In Oyo, this year’s celebration will be one to remember all thanks to some attractions such as the appearance of the Otun Olubadan of Ibadanland Oba Rasidi Ladoja at Central Eid Prayer Ground, Agodi Gate, Ibadan for the first time in donkey years.  

The former Governor who was representing the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin at the event stopped attending prayers at the Agodi Prayer ground following a political crisis that broke out between some of his supporters and those of a late political leader, Lamidi Adedibu

The arrival of Ladoja to the prayer ground, which to some of the faithful was surprising, generated a lot of excitement. 

Speaking with Hifox News, some Chief Imams who spoke including  Alhaji Salaudeen Ajisope thanked Almighty Allah for the grace to with another Eid-el-Fitri, he also stressed the need for Muslim faithful to keep the fire burning by constantly seeking Almighty Allah.

Some faithful who spoke at various grounds including a 79-year-old Alhaja Owodele at the Central Eid Prayer Ground, Agodi Gate who shared how her fasting went and the motivation to fast despite old age said she decided to fast to intercede for Nigeria and her children especially at a time the country is going through hardship.

Earlier, Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State felicitated the Muslim Ummah in Oyo State and across the country on the occasion of Eid-el-Fitri 2025. 

The governor congratulated the Muslim faithful on the successful completion of the 2025 Ramadan. 

Makinde, who hailed the Muslim faithful for their endurance, faith, sacrifices, and trust in Allah throughout the month of Ramadan, charged them to continue to uphold the lessons learnt during the holy month. 

He said: “I congratulate my brothers and sisters in Islam on the occasion of the Eid-el-Fitri, which signals the end of Ramadan. 

“I particular laud them for the perseverance, faith and trust in Allah, sacrificial living and giving, good neighbourliness, among other virtues demonstrated before and during the fasting. 

“I want to charge them to continue to uphold these values, to continue to pray and support the government at all levels and to continue to work with us to sustain the religious harmony we are enjoying in Oyo State. 

“As an administration, we have made a commitment to continue to put the people’s interest first and to develop our great state in a sustainable way, but we cannot achieve this in an atmosphere of religious disharmony and intolerance. Eid Mubarak to everyone.” 

Indeed, the 2025 ramadan season has come and gone but the lessons it taught are what muslim umaahs should hold dearly afterall, The Quran emphasizes “uprightness” as a core principle, urging believers to stand firm in their faith, adhere to the true path, and abstain from wrongdoing.
