Herders Nearly Kill Farmer with Machetes in Imo After Objecting to Crop Destruction by Cattle
A middle-aged man in Imo State suffered severe machete wounds inflicted by armed individuals suspected to be herdsmen.
The exact location of the incident couldn’t be confirmed immediately by SaharaReporters.
However, a video viewed by SaharaReporters on Tuesday depicts the injured man receiving treatment in a hospital.
Reportedly, the man confronted the herdsmen on his farm, urging them to leave as their cattle were damaging his crops.
This confrontation nearly cost him his life. The video footage reveals the man with bloodied injuries on his head, arms, and neck.

In the video, a voice attributes the attack to “Fulani herdsmen,” indicating the perpetrators’ suspected identity.
“The man was attacked by Fulani herdsmen. We thank God that he was brought to the hospital on time. You can see the deep cuts they gave him in the neck, head and arms. With this, you tell that they had the intention to kill him.”
SaharaReporters’ attempts to obtain a response from ASP Henry Okoye, the spokesperson for the state police command, were unsuccessful.
He did not answer calls or reply to the text message sent to him at the time of reporting.
