Fubara Dares Rivers Assembly, Fails to Present Budget following Expiration Of Ultimatum

The Rivers State Government has said it will not comply with the ultimatum issued by the State House of Assembly to re-present the 2025 appropriation bill as it was yet to receive the resolutions of the State House of Assembly regarding the Supreme Court’s judgment.
This was stated in a letter signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr Tammy Danagogo, and addressed to the Speaker Of The Assembly, in response to a 48 hour ultimatum issued to the state government by the Martins Amaewhule led Assembly.
Although no individual name of speaker was specified in the letter, the Government clarified that as of close of work on March 4, neither the Governor’s Office, the Deputy Governor nor the Office of the Accountant-General had received the document.

The government further revealed that its legal team is still awaiting a certified true copy of the Supreme Court judgment, assuring the public that once received, Governor Simi Fubara would act in accordance with the rule of law.
Recall that the Rivers State House of Assembly led by Speaker Martins Amaewhule had on Monday issued a 48-hour ultimatum to the government to re-present the bill following a ruling of the Supreme Court that reinstated the lawmakers.
