EURO 2024: Germany Hammer Scotland 5-1 in Opening Game
Germany kicked off Euro 2024 in spectacular fashion with a resounding 5-1 victory over Scotland in Munich.
Florian Wirtz opened the scoring early on, followed by goals from Jamal Musiala and Kai Havertz before half-time, the latter coming from a penalty after Ryan Porteous was sent off.
Niclas Fullkrug added a fourth before an Antonio Rudiger own goal gave Scotland a consolation. Emre Can sealed the win with a late goal, capping off a dominant performance by Julian Nagelsmann’s team.
Euro 2024 began perfectly for the host nation as Germany cruised to a 5-1 win over Scotland, who played the entire second half with ten men.
Germany asserted their dominance from the start in Munich, with Florian Wirtz scoring the tournament’s opening goal just 10 minutes in.

Jamal Musiala added a second shortly after, and Kai Havertz extended the lead to 3-0 from the penalty spot following Ryan Porteous’ dismissal.
The second half saw Germany continue to dominate, with Niclas Fullkrug scoring a fourth goal before an Antonio Rudiger own goal gave Scotland their only score of the match.
Emre Can completed the rout with a late fifth goal, securing Germany’s emphatic victory, the largest in any opening European Championship match.
