Economic Hardship: Be Patient With My Father—Tinubu’s Daughter Begs Nigerians
Alhaja Folashade Tinubu-Ojo, the Iyaloja General of Lagos State and daughter of President Bola Tinubu, has urged Nigerians to remain patient amidst the prevailing economic challenges.
She emphasized the importance of maintaining hope, highlighting that the economic downturn is not unique to Nigeria but rather a global phenomenon.
Tinubu-Ojo conveyed her message to reporters during the 2024 Mawlid Nabiyy celebration organized by the Lagos State chapter of Aljamahatul Qadiriyyah Islamic Movement.
The event included prayers for the nation, with excerpts from the Glorious Qur’an recited to seek guidance for Nigerian leaders and the prosperity of the country.
Recognized for her contributions to the development of Islam, Tinubu-Ojo, who was turbaned as Iya Adinni of Qadiriyyah in Nigeria and Africa, assured Nigerians that her father is actively working to alleviate the hardships facing the nation.
“My message to all Nigerians is to please exercise a little more patience. Everything will be alright; it’s just a matter of time. We need to keep our hope alive. There is an economic downturn all over the world, and not in Nigeria alone. But we pray Allah will see us through.”

The gathering held at the National Stadium in Surulere, Lagos, Southwest Nigeria, drew notable Muslim figures from diverse backgrounds. Despite prevailing hardships, attendees of the yearly Mawlid Nabbiy and prayer for the Nation voiced optimism
that Nigeria would surmount its present economic difficulties, urging for increased patience.
Sheikh Adam Muhammad Raji Adebayo, the Chief Missioner and Founder of Al-Abrar Foundation, emphasized the importance of Muslims reconnecting with Allah as a remedy to the ongoing hardships in the country.
“The antidote to this hardship is for us to go back to our creator. We should talk to the Almighty Allah because whatever is happening is in His decree. So, if truly we believe in destiny, we should all go back to our creator, pray to Him and seek His assistance on the current hardship. Importantly, we should seek forgiveness from Allah because all of us have committed sins one way or the other,” he said.
The scholar urged Muslims to model their actions and speech after the Prophet. Sheikh Aminullah Abd’Salam Akoshile, the grand Khalifa of Tijaniyya for Lagos State, emphasized during his guest appearance that hardships serve as tests from Allah.
He highlighted the importance for Muslims to exercise patience and engage in prayer during such trials.
“The reality with us currently is that we have hunger ravaging the country, and there is hardship. But it’s part of the test of Allah. He said in the Qur’an that he would occasionally test us with hunger and other things. And there would be glad tidings for those who are patient.
“We need prayer. Therefore, we should continue to pray for our leaders and our country. We will come out of this.”
Sheikh Soliu Jamiu Amasa, the Chief Host and Khalifah Qadiriyyah Lagos, emphasized the crucial role citizens play in addressing hardships.
He stressed the importance of praying for the nation and its leaders, noting that with support through prayer, leaders can steer the country in the right direction.
Alhaji Kashim Ibrahim, former Chairman of Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TERTFUND) and Chairman of the occasion, praised the gathering’s significance in bringing together thousands of Muslims for the annual Mawlid Nabiyy celebration.
