Court Rules Rivers N800bn 2024 Budget Illegal

The Federal High Court in Abuja on Monday declared the N800 billion 2024 budget signed by Rivers State Governor, Simi Fubara, illegal.
The court, through its presiding judge, James Omotosho, nullified the budget, emphasizing that the actions taken by four lawmakers in passing it were deemed null and void.
The governor had earlier presented an N800bn 2024 Appropriation Bill to a section of the state legislature, comprising four lawmakers.

The court ruling also acknowledged Martin Amaewhule as the rightful speaker of the state assembly.
