GENOCIDE: US Congressman Riley Moore Delivers Report to Stop Persecution of Christians in Nigeria
U.S. Congressman, Riley Moore has delivered a hard-hitting congressional report to President Donald Trump labeling Nigeria as the “deadliest place in the world to be a Christian” and outlining steps to halt what the document describes as widespread persecution and violence targeting Christian communities.
On February 23, 2026, Rep. Riley M. Moore (R-WV), joined by members of the House Committees on Appropriations and Foreign Affairs, formally presented the joint report at the White House.
The submission fulfills a directive from President Trump, who redesignated Nigeria as a Country of Particular Concern (CPC) under the International Religious Freedom Act on October 31, 2025, citing severe and systematic violations of religious freedom.
The report stems from months of bipartisan investigation, including expert hearings, consultations with religious leaders and internally displaced persons, and on-the-ground fact-finding missions to Nigeria by congressional delegations.

Lawmakers, including Moore and Appropriations Committee Chairman Tom Cole, examined violence attributed primarily to armed Fulani militias, Boko Haram, Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP), and other extremist groups.
Key findings in the report highlight that Christians in Nigeria have faced disproportionate attacks for over two decades, with estimates of tens of thousands killed—including pastors and priests—thousands of churches destroyed or damaged, widespread kidnappings, sexual violence, village burnings, and the displacement of millions.
The document asserts that Nigeria ranks as the most dangerous location globally for Christians, with violence often targeting farming communities in the Middle Belt region amid land and resource disputes framed by religious and ethnic dimensions.
“Our brothers and sisters in Christ have suffered in silence for too long,” Moore stated following the White House delivery.
“I traveled to Nigeria and saw the horrific atrocities firsthand… This report outlines concrete steps to impose accountability, counter radical Islamic terrorism, and work in coordination with the Nigerian government to bring security to all people.”
