Biggest Ship, CMA CGM Scandola, to Berth in Lekki Deep Seaport Today
Just a week following the historic arrival of the largest container ship at Lekki Port, Nigeria’s deepest seaport, another significant vessel is poised to dock. This upcoming container ship surpasses the Maersk ship that recently graced the port’s waters.
The vessel, known as CMA CGM Scandola, boasts a capacity to transport 14,000 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) of containerised imports and is slated to reach Lekki Port on Monday, January 29, 2023.
An invitation extended to BusinessDay for the official reception of the CMA CGM Scandola reveals that the ship operates on LNG, aligning with global sustainability initiatives.
Biodun Dabiri, chairman of Lekki Port, emphasized during the Maersk ship reception that Lekki Port’s state-of-the-art facilities and equipment enable it to accommodate large vessels.
