BREAKING: Rivers APC Tells Fubara to Resign or Face Impeachment

Tony Okocha, the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State, has called on Governor Siminalayi Fubara to choose between resigning and facing impeachment.
At a press conference in Port Harcourt on Monday, Okocha criticized Fubara for inviting pro-Wike members of the Rivers State House of Assembly to a meeting, labeling it a “Greek gift.” Fubara’s invitation came after his ongoing conflict with the 27 lawmakers loyal to his estranged benefactor.

The meeting was scheduled at Government House, Port Harcourt, on Monday, following the expiration of a 48-hour ultimatum issued by the assembly for Fubara to present the 2025 budget.
In addition, the assembly had previously demanded that the governor dismiss commissioners and board members not screened by the House.
The assembly also summoned the Chairman of the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC).

A letter, dated March 9 and signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Tammy Danagogo, was sent to Speaker Mathew Amaewhule, informing him that the governor had received the Supreme Court’s judgment and was prepared to meet with the legislators.
The agenda included discussions on providing adequate space for assembly sittings, addressing outstanding allowances, the budget presentation, and other pertinent issues.
While the Supreme Court’s recent ruling was expected to resolve the ongoing political crisis in Rivers State, it has only intensified the division, with both factions interpreting the decision to their own advantage.
At the press conference, Okocha accused the governor of undermining the rule of law.
“The invitation to the lawmakers is a Greek Gift. The Supreme Court Judgement is final. There is nothing anybody can do about it. The only option available to the Governor now is for him to resign or be impeached,” Okocha stated.
