Alleged Plot to Depose Sultan of Sokoto Will Cause More Harm—Islamic Cleric
An Islamic cleric in Zamfara State, Babangida Ahmad, has dismissed the alleged plan by Sokoto State Governor Ahmad Aliyu to depose the Sultan of Sokoto, Sa’ad Abubakar, as mere child’s play.
He pointed out that the Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC), led by Professor Isiak Akintola, had already cautioned against any such action to protect the image and reputation of the Muslim community in Nigeria.
Ahmad emphasized that any move to remove the Sultan of Sokoto is unwelcome and would demoralize the Islamic community in the country.
