AFCON: We’re Not Satisfied to Reach Final, We Have to be Champions — Troost-Ekong Ahead Cote d’Ivoire Clash

William Troost-Ekong emphasized that the Super Eagles’ aspirations extend beyond merely reaching the final of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

Set to confront the hosts in the championship match on Sunday, Jose Peseiro’s team is poised for their fourth title, having surpassed South Africa’s Bafana Bafana in a close encounter.

With an impressive record of five wins and one draw in six AFCON 2023 final matches, Troost-Ekong highlighted the significance of clinching victory in the tournament for the Super Eagles.

“We fought hard to get to the final,” Troost-Ekong told reporters.

“We’re not satisfied to reach the final, we now want to go all the way and win the tournament.

“It will be a tough game, it will be special.
