BREAKING: El-Rufai Loses Mother in Egypt Amid Ongoing ICPC Custody

Nasir El-Rufai has lost his mother in Egypt, where she had been receiving care, while the former Kaduna State governor remains in custody amid an investigation by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission.

El-Rufai had travelled to Egypt to stay with his mother during her treatment.

He later returned to Nigeria to honour an invitation from the anti-graft agency before she died.

The news of her death was confirmed on Friday by sources close to the family.

He served as governor of Kaduna State from 2015 to 2023.

The ICPC is examining claims of financial mismanagement during that period in office. El-Rufai has denied the allegations.
