‘Nigeria Loses Skilled Citizens To West, And In Return, Receives Deported Criminals,’ Nigerian Woman Faults Tinubu Over Dangerous Asylum Agreement With UK Govt
A Nigerian woman Oreoluwa Bukola has sharply criticised Bola Tinubu over recent agreement he signed with the United Kingdom government, warning the development poses a major threat to Nigeria.
Bola Tinubu during his just concluded visit to the UK signed an agreement to help deport people who failed to get asylum and criminals in the country.
This was announced by the UK Home Office on Thursday.
According to report, there are about 961 Nigerian asylum seekers in the UK who have used up all their appeal rights.
This means they have been officially decided not to qualify for refugee status in the UK.

There are also 1,110 Nigerian nationals who are offenders and the Home Office is waiting to send them back.
The agreement will also help send back Nigerians who stayed in the UK longer than their visa allowed.
Reacting to the agreement in a post on X, Oreoluwa Bukola described the situation where the country continues to lose its skilled citizens while receiving deported criminals in return as dangerous.

According to her, the migration of Nigeria’s highly skilled professionals to Western countries has created a vacuum in critical sectors, while the return of failed asylum seekers and individuals with criminal records exacerbates existing security and social challenges.

‘’Mass exodus of the skilled to the west and in return Naija gets failed asylum seekers and criminals.’’
