Attacks On Traditional Institutions Were Once Unheard Of In South-West But Monarchs Are Now Being Killed For Nothing Under Tinubu — Ife Salako

Political commentator Ife Salako has raised alarm over what he described as the unprecedented attacks on traditional rulers in the South-West, warning that such incidents were previously unheard of in the region but have now become disturbingly frequent under the administration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Tragedy on Wednesday evening struck as suspected terrorists attacked Agamọ Community in Akure North Local Government Area of Ondo State, killing the community’s traditional ruler, Oba Kehinde Falodun, during an invasion of his palace.

According to reports, about 10 heavily armed men stormed the monarch’s residence, attempting to abduct him. However, the traditional ruler reportedly resisted their efforts before he was killed.

The attack on the monarch followed similar occurrences where traditional rulers have overtime been abducted by terrorist with many paying heavy ransom before their release.

Speaking in a post on X, Salako lamented that the South-West region which once enjoyed a culture of deep reverence for royalty, which made attacks on kings extremely rare has now become a target for terrorists under the Bola Tinubu Government.

He linked the rise in such incidents to the failure of the federal government to address deepening insecurity, particularly as criminal groups expand operations into previously safe communities.
