VIDEO: 140m Nigerians Are Falling Into Extreme Poverty, Yet All Tinubu Cares About Is Tax And Consolidation Of Criminality — Akah

Political commentator Peter Akah has again condemned Bola Tinubu, warning that over 140 million Nigerians are on the brink of extreme poverty while the former Lagos state governor remains focused on tax collection and consolidating corruption.

Speaking in a recent interview he shared on X, the political commentator and an advocate of good governance said the administration’s focus on taxation comes at the expense of the welfare of millions of ordinary Nigerians.

Akah highlighted the soaring cost of living, high poverty rate, persistent inflation as major factors driving millions of Nigerians into poverty.

‘’We cannot allow that. So whatever that it is, Nigeria is projected that more than 140 million persons will go into extreme and multi-dimensional poverty, increasing from the initial number. This year, it is not in major breaking news.

‘’What a shame, what a hopeless situation that we find ourselves, but we cannot be despondent because that is what they want. They want this country to be completely captured. Nigeria has almost been taken hostage.

‘’If we allow, the people who are surrounding Tinubu do not believe, nobody supports Tinubu because they know he is competent. By the way, let us put that straight. Everybody who is around him is there because of what they can get through him.’’

The activist also criticized what he described as a culture of impunity under the current administration. He accused the government of protecting entrenched interests and consolidating criminality while ignoring the needs of citizens most affected by economic hardship it brough upon them.

With the 2027 general elections looming, Akah stressed that citizens are watching closely and will hold the government accountable for its inactions.
