‘Nigeria’s Situation Now Worse Than Some Countries At War,’ Peter Obi Condemns Kwara Killings By Suspected Boko Haram Terrorists
Former presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, has expressed deep sorrow over the deadly attacks in Kwara State that reportedly claimed about 170 lives, describing the incident as a heartbreaking reminder of the human cost of Nigeria’s worsening insecurity.
The attacks, which affected villages including Woro and Nuku, left families and communities in mourning as residents struggle to come to terms with the scale of the violence.
The assault came about five months after suspected Boko Haram Terrosist sent a letter to the district head of Woro, Salihu Umar, notifying him of their intention to visit the community for [radical] preaching.
Reacting to the killings which have thrown the Kwara State into mourning, Obi In a statement on X said he was “deeply saddened” by the killings, noting that every innocent life lost represents a personal and national tragedy.

“My heartfelt condolences go to the families of the victims, the affected communities, and the government and people of Kwara State,” he said, adding that the incident reflects a major failure to protect ordinary Nigerians.
Obi lamented that repeated acts of violence across the country have become a painful part of daily life, warning that insecurity in Nigeria has reached levels comparable to nations at war.

He stressed the urgent need for decisive action, calling on authorities to treat the protection of lives and property as a top priority and to deploy all necessary resources to stop further bloodshed.
The former Anambra governor also urged security agencies to act swiftly to restore peace, bring those responsible to justice, and reassure residents of Kwara State and Nigerians as a whole that their lives truly matter.
