Just 12 days after telling Nigerians to “endure” economic hardship under Bola Tinubu, an All Progressives Congress APC senator, Adams Oshiomhole has sparked outrage after a video surfaced showing him in a private jet while giving a foot massage to an unidentified woman.
The video, which spread rapidly across X (formerly Twitter) late Monday, has intensified criticism of Nigeria’s political elite, many of whom are accused by citizens of living in excess while calling for sacrifice from the general population.
The controversy is particularly explosive given the senator’s recent remarks during a televised interview, where he defended the Tinubu administration’s economic reforms and urged Nigerians to remain patient despite worsening economic conditions. “These policies are painful, but necessary,” he had said, adding that citizens must be willing to make sacrifices for long-term national stability.
Meanwhile, some Nigerians argue the alleged jet episode undermines that message.
