Under Tinubu Govt, Nigeria Becomes 4th Largest Homeless Population With 4.5 million Displaced Citizens — Report

Nigeria has been named the 4th largest homeless population in the world, with approximately 4.5 million displaced citizens, a testament to how the country has further retrogressed under the Bola Tinubu Administration.

Data from World Population Review and shared on social media by Global Statistics (@Globalstats11) placed Nigeria fourth above war-torn Sudan with 2.73m, South Sudan with 2.54m, DR Congo with 1.5m Zimbabwe with 1.2m and Cameroon with 1m among others.

Nigeria’s homeless population crisis is a complex issue driven by various factors, including insurgency, communal clashes, and environmental degradation which the current administration has struggled to address.

The Boko Haram insurgency in the North-East has displaced millions, with over 3 million internally displaced persons (IDPs) struggling to survive. These individuals face significant challenges, including food insecurity, unemployment, and limited access to healthcare and education.

The situation is particularly dire for vulnerable populations, such as children, who make up 55% of IDPs and are often pushed out of schools.
