VIDEO: Christians In Nigeria Must Be Protected — Netanyahu Backs Trump’s Sokoto Airstrikes

Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, has thrown his weight behind United States’ military airstrike against terrorists in Sokoto on Christmas Day, reiterating that Nigerian Christians should be protected.

Netanyahu, who in his Christmas message, said persecution of Christians in Nigeria would not longer be tolerated, made the remarks during his visit to the United States, where he held talks and addressed reporters alongside U.S. President Donald Trump at Mar-a-Lago in Florida.

While addressing reporters along with Donald Trump, Netanyahu said: “The Christians, especially in Nigeria should be protected. In your efforts (referring to Trump) we back completely, because Christian communities are beleaguered around the world & especially in the Middle East, but in parts of Africa too. And we stand for the same thing.”

Netanyahu’s statement builds on his earlier Christmas video message from December 24, 2025, and aligns with US concerns over religious freedom in Nigeria, amid recent American actions including airstrikes and designations related to violations there.

The bilateral discussions primarily focused on advancing the Gaza ceasefire, Iran, and regional security.

On Christmas Day, Trump announced that U.S. military struck ISIS terrorists in Sokoto State on his order.

Trump described the attack as a Christmas gift to the terrorists, adding that he delayed the strike till December 25 for it to have a symbolic meaning.
